St. James Parish

History

Saint James the Apostle school as it begin when Father Joe Nowak announced in September 1957, that a parish school would be opened.  Father Joe purchased several army surplus buildings that soon were converted into classrooms.  Enrollment that first year was one hundred ninety students.  The faculty consisted of three Marianist Sisters and two lay teachers.

During the past forty-nine years, St. James School and the entire St. James Parish have witnessed many changes and much growth.  A vast number of young people have attended St. James and have received their Eighth grade diplomas.  The faculty has always been a mixture of religious and lay teachers dedicated to educating our young boys and girls.

The school has had the good fortune of being lead by pastors who have been dedicated to fulfilling the educational.  It has also been our good fortune since 1977 to have the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco as administrators of our school.

Our pastor, principal, and school family salute all those who have been associated with St. James School. We hope that the foundation we have built over these forty-nine years will serve the young people of this community for many more years to come.
