Admission of Students
St.
James Catholic School is open to all students regardless of race or ethnic
background, but preference must be given to students of the Catholic faith.
Admission Requirements
Parents
who seek a Catholic education for their child enter into a contractual
agreement between the parent/student and the school and the rules of the
school governing all areas of the student's development as stated in the
school's philosophy. As part of the contractual agreement there are
expectations placed on both the parent/student and the school.
K
(Pre-Kindergarten):
4 yrs old by Sept. 1st.
5K
(Kindergarten):
5 yrs old by Sept. 1st.
In the
process of admitting students. Preference will be given to families who are
parishioners and to families already attending St. James School.
First
Grade:
6 yrs old by Sept. 1st.
Exception
may be made in the case of a student who has completed Kindergarten in a
different state where the entering age is lower, provided there is also a
written statement from the Kindergarten teacher that the student is ready
for first grade.
Re-admission of
current students takes place in February.
Testing of new
students begins in March, however you may call beginning January 15th to
be placed on the waiting list.

Student Testing Registration Procedures
1. A readiness placement
test is given to
applicants to determine the child's ability to meet the school's requirements.
Placement of the student is the decision of the Principal based on testing,
observation and other means that might indicate the best interest of the
student. The placement test fee is
$15.00 and is
non-refundable.
2.
Upon time of registration the following items must be submitted:

Complete registration form
-
Complete Health form (HQ-2)
-
Official Birth certificate
-
Immunization Record
-
Certificates of Sacraments received (when applicable)

Social Security Card
-
$85 registration fee (non-refundable)
** All testing and
registration fees are non refundable
Any students transferring from other
schools must be in good standing at their previous school before being
admitted.
