Curriculum Goals

1. To provide religious instruction and a variety of faith experiences based on the teachings of the church, and to foster a personal relationship with God.

2. To provide high academic standards through a complete and designated course of studies.

3. To provide formative evaluation of students' progress in order to ensure their personal academic growth, and through instructional objectives based on students' needs.

4. To promote self esteem, confidence, tolerance and respect for self and each individual.

5. To develop and appreciation of their own country, religion, culture and nationality as well as those of others.

6. To crate and maintain a family-like environment which promotes loving kindness, trust and respect.

7. To teach higher critical thinking and study skills.

8. To promote a working line of communication between home, school, and community.

9. To strengthen personal and social responsibility through home, classroom and school duties.

10. To provide creative experiences in written expression, music, art, drama and athletics.

Curriculum Requirements

St. James the Apostle school maintains a balanced curriculum including Religion, Language Arts (English, Reading, Spelling, Phonics, Handwriting) Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, Fine Arts, Health, Physical Education and Computer Literacy and Foreign Language.

To implement these standards the schools follow the TCCEC (Texas Catholic Conference Education Commission) requirements.

Curriculum Guidelines

Curriculum implementation for all Catholic Schools follow the Curriculum Guide of the Archdiocese of San Antonio which will incorporate the Texas essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
